As we enter into 2020, our Cascadian Diplomats are organizing themselves into six different core departments they have deemed to be the highest priority for building the Cascadia movement, the independence of the Cascadia Bioregion, building a network of bioregional movements around the world, and improve the well being and liveability of our bioregion.

The Cascadia Center for Leadership, which is celebrating 20 years of training and supporting local leaders, is accepting applications for its 2020 10-day Leadership Development Program. The application deadline is Oct. 18, 2019.

The Cascadia Department of Bioregion was excited to meet with members of the Bioregional Learning Center in the South Devon Bioregion in the United Kingdom. One of the primary focuses of the meeting was sharing skills and knowledge regarding our two groups, and building a global model of collaboration as we move forward.

Department of Bioregion has productive meeting with California National Party

The Cascadia Department of Bioregion had a very pleasant meeting with representatives of the California National Party. It was great to be able to make introductions, share a bit about each others past histories and movement histories, and talk about pitfalls and strategies for success. It was interesting also to hear of their challenges with fallout regarding Russia and the various different groups working actively for an independent California, and how they are working together as a movement to overcome these hurtles.

The Cascadia Association Football Federation took a strong stand with the three Cascadia team supporter groups against racism and discrimination by issuing a strong statement on Wednesday in regards to recent events.

Cascadia Football was very excited to win their first ever international friendly at Whyteleafe FC against Chagos Islands this past weekend. The match took place on May 25th in Surrey, the United Kingdom and was the first time Cascadia played an international friendly.

Cascadia Culture week happens every year the week before and after Cascadia Day. We invite every Cascadian to join with us and celebrate the wonderful and unique culture that makes the Pacific Northwest of North America so special, and to use it as a time to reflect and share with friends. With Culture Week, it comes an opportunity to educate and celebrate our beautiful bioregion.

CASCADIA INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S FILM FESTIVAL (April 11–14)

Every year Bellingham hosts the Cascadia International Women’s Film Festival, an event dedicated to showcasing the exceptional work of women directors from around the world. The festival, starting April 11 and running through the weekend,  is screening approximately 25 films over the course of the 3 1/2-day festival, and also provides educational opportunities relating to the viewing, making, and distribution of films.

Cascadia Wildlands, a grassroots conservation organization, celebrates their 20th year of action protecting Cascadian forests and working to restore vast old-growth forests, rivers full of wild salmon, wolves howling in the backcountry, and vibrant communities sustained by the unique landscapes of the Cascadia bioregion.
